Dreaming

Before I was married I am pretty sure most of my internet time was spent on www.TheKnot.com. I kept looking at other people's wedding pictures and different ideas and all those fun things. I figured that once I was married that would be the end of it. Then I discovered that the people who made the knot are just oh so clever and also have a website for the married types. This website has definitely become a favorite of mine. www.thenest.com. It has everything, especially decorating ideas that I love, and many of them are do it yourself, or diy as they say. Im a dork I know, but its fun. Here are some pictures of rooms that they just put up and I love.

If you know me you already know why I love this room. I love how there is so much color. It makes everything so bright and open feeling and it doesn't look like a little kids room, but its still fun. I want to be a fun grown up, therefore I need a fun room. If I were crafty I would have this be my craft room.

I love this bed, and the idea of mixing different patterns in the room. Someday I will be crafty and upholster our headboard and then I can have my cute craft room. Another thing I love, polka dots and stripes and such. They are just so clever how they find ways to incorperate things I love but never thought I would ever be able to use!

Anyway....I just thought I would share my new love with you all. Thenest.com. I enjoy it. Dreaming about what I can do someday in the house I will own in the not so distant but still kind of distant future is fun.

Memories! (pick your favorite song with that word and begin singing......now!)

Bethany had this on her blog. I thought it was fun but I am not even sure anyone reads this. But what better way to find out?

1) Leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time, or a long time, anything you remember!

2) Re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.

3) If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

This kind of reminds me of those bulletins people post on myspace, except here it just seems so much more acceptable. Maybe im crazy, but I am sure you have a good memory of that too, so write away!

New blog

My sister is the one who got me to want a blog. It always looks so cute and is so fun to read. So I started mine but could not figure out how to make it cute. Then everyone started having a cute blog, except me. Well....thanks to my sister and the wonderful link on her page and a lot of time I probably shouldn't have spent....mine is on its way to being cute. Now I just need to learn how to 1) put links to my friends up. 2)put a picture in the little header thing. If you know how let me know! Im not very good at this stuff. And by not very good I mean I can't.

An interesting week....and its only Tuesday....

Sunday morning 7:30, Cory and I get up to get ready for our 8:30am meeting ( who meets then? really?) 8:30 we arrive at the church and as we walk into the chapel and sit down. As the meeting begins I look around and am shocked at how different the ward looks. I know that a lot of people were gone for the holiday weekend before and that the ward changes a lot, but man I didn't recognize anyone! About halfway through the meeting I leaned over to Cory and mentioned how it almost seemed like a whole new ward. Once I confirmed to Cory that I felt the same way he did, he leans over and asks the couple in front of us what ward we are in. Apparently we were in the BYU 34th ward. Who would have known that there were two chapels in that building? And in those two chapels there were two seperate student married wards meeting at the same time?
After laughing at ourselves we decide to just hang out until the meeting is over and quietly join our actual ward for sunday school and relief society/priesthood. The congregation finished the last hymn and all was going according to plan, except no one was getting up. Then we see this young man make his way to the podium. "Ok he is going to make a last minute announcement" I think, then he says, " welcome to sunday school." Cory and I look at eachother and at that point realized that we would not make it out of this blunder so gracefully. Then the young man continues, "If you are new to our ward and planning on staying, please stand up and introduce yourselves."
"We don't need to, we are not planning on staying, and I am sure there are more people here who are new. " I think. But as I think this, he turns to face us, and looks directly at us. At that same moment, every head in the congregation turns to look at us as well. There was no way of getting out of it now. So Cory stands up, " My name is Cory Mince, this is my wife Rachel. We are actually in the wrong ward, we are supposed to be in the BYU 98th ward. But it was a good meeting." And with that, the meeting finally ended and we were allowed to join our actual ward. What a sunday!

Now, along comes Tuesday. Today, I was supposed to go into my new job to be trained before I worked on my own tomorrow. I am working as a Receptionist for a salon here in Utah. Mind you that up until now I have been a lifeguard, swim instructor/coach, and voice teacher. Nothing really to do with hair or style or receptionist, except my short stint at Express. I was supposed to be there at 10:00am. I show up early and no one is there so I just wait. 10:30 the person who hired me sees there is still no one there and lets me in. I then find out that the receptionist who is supposed to train me is nowhere to be found, and am asked to just answer phones and things until they figure out what to do. ( mind you I know nothing about this place except the name.)
Not too long after this a stylist comes to help me a little bit between clients and I find out that the receptionist is not sick, or hurt. But she is upset that I was hired because she thought I was going to take her hours. ( I was only hired to take the ones she didn't want to work) So she decided to show them how upset she was by not showing up to help me. So I got to spend the day interrupting the stylists in the middle of doing a clients hair so they could show me how to work things like cash registers and credit card machines and place product orders.
To top it all off, the two stylists out of the three there working today who knew enough to help me a bit had to leave before 5. But, instead of closing the salon when they left, I got to close the salon all by myself. Now, they did try to help me by zeroing out the register before they left so I wouldn't have to do it by myself. It could have worked if someone didn't show up to buy some product at 5, when I was all alone. Luckily I was able to ring her up. But That was about it. I was so lost.
If the first day doesn't say how interesting this job has the potential to be, then I don't know what does. So tomorrow is day two, wish me luck! Hopefully it will be a little less eventful then day 1.
oh...and I also discovered that one of the stylists I work with is the sister of someone that my sister in law was once engaged to. Small world....... what a fun day!

Not a lot of things going on right now. Cory is working and I am still trying to get a job. But last night we went to the timpanogos temple, which was beautiful. It was really weird to be at the temple on a tuesday night and be in a full session. The number of active members out here is really amazing. I think it is something I could really enjoy. Anyway, now for the real reason I am posting, I still do not have my camera but I did get my wedding pictures so I will post some of my favorites on here. Our photographer was amazing. Thank you Lelia Jones!

And yes, as Bethany has pointed out we tend to be kissing in every pictures.....only because we were told to we swear........

Today is Sunday, the first Sunday in about four weeks that Cory and I have been able to go to a full church meeting. Today we went to the oh so evil married student ward. Or well, that is how people we talked to before we went made it out to be. Everyone we talked to said it was this big fashion show and contest to see who is more spiritual. So we were a little nervous, but thought we would try it out anyway. After going today I have come to the conclusion that people's idea of a student ward is the same as a young adult ward, wrong. Everyone was nice and we had a good time. It wasn't a big fashion show and no one was trying to be better then the other. I like it. Everyone is in a similar situation in life. So.......I am hoping Cory likes it to because I would like to continue going there.
