What she said.

While on our way to go feed the ducks Cory said something along the lines of," throw crap to the ducks." and of course Jocelyn immediately picked this up. " No Daddy! No throw crap to ducks!"

One day Jocelyn was having an exceptionally whiny morning. At breakfast she was sent to time out for it. When she came back she growled at me so Cory told her to go back to time out and while crying on her chair she exclaimed," I'm a lion!"

While at the baby-sitters today Jocelyn was being whinny. When asked why she responded, "I'm frustrated!"

At dinner tonight, Jocelyn looked at me and said, "I shake my booty!"

While eating another night, "I shake my body and my bum!" I told her to go ahead and she then proceeded to wiggle in her seat.

New things on Blogger

I was going through old posts and thought I should publish some of the drafts. In the past they would post to the date I wrote them. Apparently that does not happen now, so things are a little out of date while I try to remember when I actually wrote some of the posts....

Mommy's Tummy

On Monday March 12 I had a Dr.'s apt. One in which both Jocelyn and Cory accompanied me. I had some specific symptoms. The most prominent of which being nausea and fatigue. I thought I remembered how this would go, but was quickly reminded that I really have forgotten things when I was sent it to get my blood drawn. dang it. I forgot about that.

Then we waited. Jocelyn had just had her 2 year well child visit so she thought she knew how this would go. Until it was time for mommy to lay down. I didn't want her to be worried about what was going on so I told her the Dr. was going to use the special machine to hear a baby in mommy's tummy. And so we did. It took a minute- which freaked me out. But then we heard it. That wonderful heartbeat. The proof that I do not feel like death for no reason.

I knew it meant something to me, and to Cory but figured that was all for Jocelyn. Big deal. Until Cory told me that she kept saying, "baby mommy tummy." Then I went home after work and fed her. The ENTIRE half hour she sat in her chair she repeatedly said, "baby, mommy tummy." "mommy lay down." Over, and over again.

She then said that baby Samuel was in my tummy, which i promptly corrected and told her it was a different baby. You should have seen her face then. "NO WAY!" it seemed to say. She was still a bit skeptical but seemed to accept it at the time.
This weekend we went to visit my sister and her family. Her littlest boy is now almost 4 months old. The last time we visited was his blessing. She liked him but it was busy, people were everywhere and she had other cousins to keep her busy.  This time though....she was hooked. The minute I brought him out of his room, nothing was more important that that baby boy. She wanted to hold him, look at him, make him smile.

This weekend was kind of my sneak peak to what life will be like in a few months. It was pretty much what I imagined. She wanted to be the helper. She did not just want to hold him, she wanted to care for him. She watched exactly what I did to help him and wanted to do the same. I held him and let him suck on my hand. Then I let her "hold" him and she immediately stuck her finger in his mouth. If he cried, she did not want me to take him, she smiled at him and asked him what was wrong. It was mostly cute...though I definitely anticipate her not being happy when I do not let her help. However, I am also glad that, from what I saw, she did not struggle with being too smothering. (on bonus about having cats. she learned to be soft.)

I also learned that, as I suspected, she is going to struggle with me not being able to give her attention all the time. (considering the fact she struggles with this now, I am not surprised.) However, I think she will figure it out. In the end, it made me so happy to see her so happy with a baby. I am so excited for October., not just to meet our little girl but also to watch Jocelyn be what she was always meant to be, a sibling.

Sundays at church.

Jocelyn was sitting on my lap today during sacrament meeting as we began to sing the closing hymn. I did what I usually do, held the book, using my fingers to show her where we were singing and sang along. Halfway through she hopped off my lap and I just looked back at the book and continued singing. Next thing I knew I heard this voice next to me singing as loud as possible, "Lalalalala!" and there was Jocelyn, her own hymn book on her lap with her finger on the page looking up singing for all to hear.

She was quite proud of herself because she also decided to sing during the prayer. Oh how I love this two year old...

Later that day...

While Eating graham crackers and milk with Cory, he asked her what she sang in primary. She started rambling off all these things we did not understand and finished with "quacky swim away!"
